I feel I have completely neglected my little blog lately. I’ve been so busy with college work, being ill, work experience, as well as plenty of other excuses. But now it’s the holidays and I have nothing to do with my life, I thought I’d come back and tend my little blog garden, clear the weeds and plant some seeds. (Hooray for rhyming metaphors!)

I’ve seen this “get to know me tag” floating around on tons of blogs and thought telling strangers on the internet pointless things about myself would be a great way to get back into the swing of things.

Are you named after anyone?

No, my mum just liked the name Liberty. No one really calls me it now though, I grew tired of comments along the lines of “Oh, what an unusual name” and now tell everyone I meet that my name is the more common, Libby. Much to the annoyance of my mother who hates the name.

When was the last time you cried?

The last time I properly cried was whilst watching Russell Howard’s Good News the other week.  Yes I know, it’s a comedy show. I’m aware of that, but let me explain.
The show had ended and just before the closing credits they played a video, it was about a dog that had been found, abandoned in a heap of rubbish, blind in both eyes and riddled with fleas. The people who found her took her in, bathed her,  and a few days later they took her to the vets who confirmed she was 100% blind, but with surgery, could restore vision in one eye. The dog was adopted and it was a happy ending.

I don’t know whether I was upset because I couldn’t understand how an animal could even get in that state, or because I was ill at the time and felt a bit weepy or even if it was just because Kate Bush was playing in the background but I was beside myself. I sat on the sofa and cried, then I went upstairs and had a shower and continued to cry, I was a bit of a mess.

Here’s the video if anyone wants to watch it, look how happy she is at the end!

Do you have children?
Nope, I have a rabbit if that counts?

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
I’m not going to lie, probably not.  I’m so socially awkward at times it’s painful. I do things like showing off my new parrot impression only to find that not only is making head bopping motions to people I barely know not cool, it’s also a really rubbish parrot impression.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I use sarcasm to joke with friends, but I don’t think it’s acceptable anywhere else. I absolutely hate when people use it to demean someone.

What’s your favourite cereal?

It used to be muesli until I entered a competition on Twitter and won a hamper of it.  What is one girl to do with a hamper of muesli?!  Now I’ll just opt for Shredded Wheat or something of the likes.

This, this is too much Muesli

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

I want to say something cliché and romantic like their eyes. But in all honesty, I probably notice a persons outfit first, especially if I really like it.

What’s your eye colour?

Some blueish grey colour, I actually quite like it.

Scary movies or happy endings?

I’m not usually a fan of scary movies, not because I find them scary, but because they are more often than not so cringy and predictable. I’m not a fan of chick flicks either, for the same reason.

I guess if I had to pick either of the two it would be happy endings.

Favourite smells?

Not a lot of people seem to get me when I say this, but I love the smell of rain on a really hot day. It’s more when the pavement begins to get wet, it gives off this smell that I really can’t describe. Does anyone get what I mean? If so please let me know, I can’t be the only one!
Apart from that I also love the smell of homemade bread being baked, fresh coffee, vanilla, walking past a fish and chip shop, any DKNY perfume, a vat of mulled wine sitting on the cooker and the smell of a freshly printed magazine.

Summer or Winter?
I love Winter, when I’m inside and snuggled up on the sofa in my pyjamas with a mug of hot chocolate and some cinnamon flavoured snacks. I also love the perks of summer, such as picnics, ice lollies, and being able to wear pretty dresses and light cardigans.
I think I’ll go for Summer, because it’s such a rarity here in Britain, especially up North!

Computer or television?

Computer, definitely. I rarely watch television. We own a telly, but it’s not actually connected to anything so we don’t get any channels. I honestly can’t say I miss it. I can always just catch up on something using iplayer on my computer anyway.

What’s the furthest you’ve been away from home?

I’ve never actually left Europe. So I think the furthest away would probably be Spain. I do plan on travelling further one day, but my passport has expired, and they’re pretty expensive things to replace.

Do you have any special talents?!

Does clumsiness count as a talent? It doesn’t? Oh, that’s a shame. I could win medals for the amount of times I’ve fallen down the stairs/walked into things/tripped over nothing.
I don’t really have any talents, there’s nothing I can think of that I excel at.

Where were you born?

England

What are your hobbies?

I wish I could answer this with something really cool like Archery or Fencing or even having an interesting collection but I don’t do any of these things.
I like baking things with high sugar content, looking at pictures of cute animals on the internet and reading Country Living magazines despite living in an ugly industrial city.

Note to self: New years resolution is to find a hobby!

Favourite movies?

I don’t know if I can answer this. There are so many movies I love, I can’t narrow it down to a select few favourites.
I’m just going to skip this question, it would need a whole post to itself.
