As you’ve probably already gathered, I have a slight obsession with changing my hair. There’s just something about being able to make yourself look like an entirely different person that appeals to me. Since having vibrant shades such as blue, pink, orange, and purple, having brown hair just felt, well, boring. I decided I needed a completely new style to shake things up a bit.
After watching Amelie for the gazillionth time I had my heart set on a cute little Parisian chic bob, so after spending hours on Pinterest I finally took the plunge and booked myself an appointment at East Terrace Hair, a lovely salon in the centre of Newcastle.
I think this is the shortest I’ve ever had my hair so I was utterly terrified whilst I was sitting in the chair. Luckily, I can’t see a thing without my glasses on so I couldn’t watch as my shoulder length locks gradually came above my chin. When I finally popped my glasses back on I was pleasantly surprised. All the ratty ends of my hair were gone, and I left the salon with a smile (which makes a nice change from the usual mumbling “it’s okay” before hurrying out with a hat hoping it’ll grow out quickly)
It’s been over a week since cutting it all off, and since then I have had days where I look in the mirror and think “oh god, what have I done?!”
I must admit I do miss throwing my hair up into a messy bun, my signature style. But I do not miss battling shampoo through it, the 45 minute blow drying sessions, the weird rats tails that I’d find at the back of my head no matter how many times I’d brushed it, and all the other traumas long hair brings.
Have you ever made a drastic hair change? Did you regret it or were you pleased? Let me know in the comments!
